Het duo Albin Brun & Kristina Brunner slagen er weer in om een nieuw album op te nemen met fraaie klankpoëzie.

De Zwitserse musici Albin Brun en Kristina Brunner bespelen beiden het Zwitsers schwyzerörgeli. Een kleine diatonische accordeon. Diatonisch vanwege de toonhoogte-verandering bij het indrukken of uittrekken van de balg en uitgerust met enkele rijen knoppen. Door de stemming, en daarmee het gebruik van de boventonen, krijgt het instrument zijn typische wendbare klankkleur.

Zowel Albin Brun als Kristina Brunner spelen virtuoos op het schwyzerörgeli hun eigen werk van het album Innerland. Nieuwe composities die uitblinken in melodieuze vindingrijkheid, met plotselinge wendingen, thematische en ritmische variaties, modulaties en wisselende timbres. Naast schwyzerörgeli speelt Brunner cello en Brun sopraansax. Dat levert weliswaar een beperkte instrumentatie op van schwyzerörgeli, cello en sopraansax, maar door hun geraffineerde arrangementen komen de composities prachtig tot leven en ontstaat er gevarieerde kamermuziek-folk. De cello strijkt, tokkelt en wordt zo nu en dan als trommel gebruikt, terwijl het schwyzerörgeli swingt en zwiert, zowel solo, als met z’n 2-en, aangevuld met cello of sopraansax. In de kern zijn de stukken folk georiënteerd, maar ook jazz en pop komen voorbij, gelardeerd met soepele improvisaties.

Brun en Brunner zijn goed op elkaar ingespeeld Als een organisch geheel grijpen thema’s, ritmes en variaties in elkaar en ontstaat er organische muziek die van binnenuit komt. Dat hoor je en voel je.

Once again the duo Albin Brun and Kristina Brunner succeed in recording a new album with a beautiful kind of sound poetry.

The Swiss musicians Albin Brun and Kristina Brunner both play the Swiss schwyzerörgeli. A small diatonic accordion. Diatonic due to the pitch change when pressing or pulling out the bellows and equipped with single rows of buttons. The tuning, and therefore the use of the overtones, gives the instrument its typical agile timbre.

Both Brun and Brunner play virtuoos their own work on the album Innerland. New compositions that excel in melodic inventiveness, with sudden changes, themes and rhythmic variations, modulations and changing timbres. In addition to schwyzerörgeli, Brunner plays cello and Brun soprano sax. Although this results in a limited instrumentation of schwyzerörgeli, cello and soprano sax, their refined arrangements bring the compositions beautifully to life and create varied chamber music-folk. The cello bows, plucks and is occasionally used as a drum, while the swinging organ swings and sways, both solo and as a pair, supplemented with cello or soprano sax. The pieces are essentially folk oriented, but jazz and pop are also featured, interspersed with smooth improvisations.

Brun and Brunner are well attuned to each other. As an organic entity themes, rhythms and variations interlock and create organic music that comes from within. You hear it and feel it.
