De Bretonse diatonisch accordeonspeler Tangi Le Gall-Carré was jaren de frontman van de groep Startijenn en nam twee duet-albums op met gitarist Erwan Moal. Nu is het tijd voor een solo-CD, onder zijn eigen naam. Alle composities op – NEUS – zijn eigen stukken waarin hij wordt bijgestaan door musici op bodhran, ulleann pipes (Bretonse doedelzak), viool, fleut a-dreuz (houten dwarsfluit), cittern (soort mandoline) en basgitaar. Tangi Le Gall-Carré is een virtuoos op zijn accordeon. Veel stukken op zijn album zijn solostukken. Werken met veel improvisaties en prachtige (thema-)omspelingen waarin hij zijn instrument vitaal laat ronken, zweven en zelfs dartelen en springen. Het lijkt het wel of je soms twee musici op één accordeon hoort. Zo hebben solo-stukken Neus en Milendall een glooiende snelheid, mooie melodieën, met rappe arpeggio’s. Daarnaast maakt hij energiek gebruik van dynamiek die zijn muziek een vitale lading bezorgt. Fraai is de fleut a-dreuz in Nozvezh diderman en de ulleann pipes in Anhun, waarin de accordeon wordt verrijkt met wah-wah pedaal. Een effect dat oorspronkelijk wordt gebruikt bij elektrische gitaar. De Bretonse muziek is een zeer karakteristieke muziek die door het nieuwe album van Tangi Le Gall-Carré nog eens uitvergroot wordt weergegeven.

The Breton diatonic accordion player Tangi Le Gall-Carré was the frontman of the band Startijenn for many years and recorded two duet albums with guitarist Erwan Moal. Now it’s time for a solo CD, under his own name. All compositions on – NEUS – are his own pieces in which he is assisted by musicians on bodhran, ulleann pipes (Breton bagpipes), violin, fleut a-dreuz (wooden flute/traverso), cittern (kind of mandolin) and bass guitar. Tangi Le Gall-Carré is a virtuoso on his accordion. Many pieces on his album are solo pieces. Working with a lot of improvisations and beautiful (theme) changes, in which he makes his instrument throb, float and even frolic and jump. It seems as if you sometimes hear two musicians on óne accordion. Amazing! Solo pieces like Neus and Milendall have a rolling speed, beautiful melodies, with fast arpeggios. In addition, he energetically uses dynamics that give his music a vital charge. Beautiful is the fleut a-dreuz in Nozvezh diderman and the ulleann pipes in Anhun, in which the accordion is enriched with a wah-wah pedal. An effect originally used with electric guitar. Breton music is a very characteristic music, once again superb played by Tangi Le Gall-Carré on his new album.
