De Waalse trompettist Mark Frankinet is een lyricus op zijn instrument. Hij speelt zowel bugel als trompet in een glooiende, melodische setting. Met zorg kiest hij zijn tonen en plaatst ze met een gemêleerde, ronde embouchure. Hij wordt begeleid door bassist Benoît Vanderstraeten (fraaie solo in Zénobe), de gevarieerde drummer Antoine Cirri en Jacques Pirotton. Een gitarist die zowel elektrisch als akoestisch te horen is en aansluit bij het spel van zijn landgenoot Philippe Catherine. Ook Pirotton maakt gebruik van dissonante dubbelgrepen, snelle, virtuoze loopjes en lang liggende tonen die fraai het muzikale landschap kleuren. Het Marc Frankinet Quartet bedient zich van jazz & funk, zoals afgewisseld in Crow Blues of de bossa nova in Stan; een ode aan de legendarische saxofonist Stan Getz, die de deze stijl naar grote hoogte speelde. Fraai zijn het ferme Misérable!…(Il sort) met een origineel echoënd (tussen trompet en gitaar) thema en de stukken Motown en Ariane’s Games waar gitaar en trompet tweestemmig te horen zijn, gevolgd door een strakke bas-solo, net zoals in de mainstream-compositie Memory of Dick. Een werk van Bobby Jaspar. De Belgische saxofonist, geboren in Luik die speelde met de groten der aarde en stierf in New York. Het album In a little provincial town is een gevarieerde wereldplaat, uitgevoerd door bevlogen musici. Een CD die veel verder reikt dan een klein provinciaals stadje!

The Belgium trumpeter Mark Frankinet is a lyricist on his instrument. He plays both flugelhorn and trumpet in a smooth and melodic setting. He chooses his notes with care and places them with a mixed, round embouchure. He is accompanied by bassist Benoît Vanderstraeten (nice solo in Zénobe), the varied drummer Antoine Cirri and Jacques Pirotton. A guitarist who can be heard both electrically and acoustically and who fits in with the playing of his compatriot Philippe Catherine. Pirotton also uses dissonant double chords, fast and virtuoso melodie lines and long lying tones that beautifully color the musical landscape. The Marc Frankinet Quartet uses jazz & funk, as alternated in Crow Blues or the bossa nova in Stan; an ode to the legendary saxophonist Stan Getz, who played this style to great heights. Beautiful are the ferme Misérable!…(Il sort) with an original echoing (between trumpet and guitar) theme and the compositions Motown and Ariane’s Games where guitar and trumpet can be heard in harmonie, followed by a tight bass solo, just like in the mainstream composition Memory of Dick.
