Op het nieuwe album van het meisjeskoor Kuželovská zpěvulky uit het district Hodonín, Zuidoost-Moravië, Tsjechië klinkt bijzondere muziek. Ze worden begeleid door een zeven-koppige band.

Op het 2de album V Kuželově sú děvčata…jak tá malina (Er zijn meisjes in Kuželov…zoals een framboos) van het meisjeskoor Kuželovská zpěvulky staan twaalf traditionele liederen uit Hodonín. Deze handelen allen over de liefde: de kindertijd met zijn prille jeugdliefdes, de pijn, maar ook de vreugde en het plezier van het samenzijn. Het koor wordt begeleid door het Horñácká Cimbálová Muzika (HCM) o.l.v. van violist Roman Sokola en het HCM o.l.v. violist Marek Potěšila. Deze violisten zijn de zgn. prim, de eerste violisten die door hun positie gemakkelijk de leiding hebben over de drie violisten, contrabas en cimbalo. Bijzonder daarbij is de ritmisch gestreken (wissel-)bas, de tegenmelodieën op de viool en de ritmiek die precies het omgekeerde is van de West-Europese hopfiguur. De voorzang (zowel door jongens als meisjes) wordt beantwoord met een- of meerstemmige zang van het koor. Dat geeft de muziek een soort saamhorigheidsgevoel wat perfect past bij het traditionele karakter. 

De stukken zijn levendig, fris en opgewekt en worden gelardeerd met prachtige B-gedeelten waarin twee-stemige vioolstukken weelderig om elkaar heen krullen. Het koor Kuželovské zpěvulky startte in 2011, toen ze hun debuut-optreden verzorgde tijdens het Horňák-festival in Velká nad Veličkou, een stad in zuid-oost Slovenië. Nu, tien jaar later, brengt het koor het verjaardags-album V Kuželově sú děvčata…jak tá malina op de markt. Al is voor de gemiddelde luisteraar de tekst onbegrijpelijk, wat wel duidelijk is, is het vakmanschap, het speel- en zangplezier van een bruisende cultuur uit het oosten van Tsjechië die nog steeds kleurrijk en springlevend is!

You’ll find special music on the new album by the girls’ choir Kuželovská zpěvulky from the Hodonín district, Southeastern Moravia, Czech Republic. They are accompanied by a seven-piece band.

The 2nd album V Kuželově sú děvčata…jak tá malina (There are girls in Kuželov…like a raspberry) by the girls’ choir Kuželovská zpěvulky contains twelve traditional songs from Hodonín. All these songs are about love: childhood with its early youth loves, the pain, but also the joy and pleasure of being together. The choir is accompanied by the Horñácká Cimbálová Muzika (HCM) conducted by violinist Roman Sokola and the HCM conducted by violinist Marek Potěšila. These violinists are the so-called prim, the first violinists who, because of their position, are easily in charge of the three violinists, double bass and cimbalo. Special is the rhythmically bowed bass, the counter melodies on the violin and the rhythm that is exactly the opposite of the Western European hop figure. The prelude (both by boys and girls) is answered with mono or polyphonic singing by the choir. This gives the music a feeling of togetherness, which fits perfectly with the traditional character.

The pieces are lively, fresh and cheerful and are interspersed with beautiful B-parts with two-voice violin pieces or cymbal solos. The choir Kuželovské zpěvulky started in 2011, when they gave their debut performance at the Horňák festival in Velká nad Veličkou, a city in south-eastern Slovenia. Now, ten years later, the choir released their anniversary album V Kuželově sú děvčata…. Although the lyrics are incomprehensible for the average listener. But clear is the craftsmanship, the joy of playing and singing together in a vibrant culture from the east of the Czech Republic which is still so alive and colorful!
