Geronimo is de artiestennaam van de Vlaamse snaren-speler Jeroen Geerinck. Run High is zijn tweede solo-CD waarop hij zijn leefomgeving vangt in pakkende folk, pop en rock.

Jeroen Geerinck is een begenadigd gitarist die houdt van lyrische melodieën. Zijn nieuwe album Run High staat er vol mee. Instrumentale stukken, die eigenlijk instrumentale liederen-zonder-woorden zijn, met de gitaar steeds in de kern van de muziek. Hij verpakt zijn composities in vakkundig uitgekiende arrangementen, met stevige breaks, pakkende ritmes, plotselinge wendingen (Run High), instrument-wissels en solo-gitaarwerk. Geerinck speelt naast akoestisch gitaar ook elektrische gitaar, basgitaar, synths en elektronische drums die hij met precisie plaatst in zijn muziek. Op zijn album wandel je als het ware met hem mee, de dag door, te beginnen bij zonsopkomst. De meest vreedzame tijd van de dag waarin de wereld van jou is. Een tijd voor contemplatie, die schitterend wordt vertolkt in Break of Day. Een mooi akoestisch gitaarwerk aangevuld met enkele overdubs. Hierna worden de stukken wat drukker en beweeglijker, komt de dag werkelijk tot leven en klinken er stevige elektronische drums met lekkere gitaarsolo’s (The Rundown) en zelfs een  vette saw-tooth synthesizersound in Pace Up. En dan weer een mijmering in The Promende gevolgd door het stuwende Second Wind en The Long Jump (met schitterende akoestische passages). Het album eindigt met Dawn. Ook weer een contemplatieve compositie, nu in drie-telsmaat, die je langzaam meevoert door de nacht, alwaar de nieuwe dag zich spoedig aandient. Beeldend en mooi! Jeroen Geerinck was al te horen in bands als Snaarmaarwaar, Spilar en Hot Griselda en is daarmee geen nieuwkomer binnen de Vlaamse folk-scene, maar met Run High neemt hij op innovatieve wijze de dag met je door, en hoe!

Geronimo is the artistic name of the Flemish string player Jeroen Geerinck. Run High is his second solo CD on which he captures his living environment in catchy folk, pop and rock music.

Jeroen Geerinck is a gifted guitarist who loves lyrical melodies. His new album Run High is full of it. Instrumental pieces, which are actually instrumental songs-without-words, with the guitar always at the heart of the music. He packs his compositions into expertly sophisticated arrangements, with heavy breaks, catchy rhythms, sudden changes (Run High), instrument changes and solo guitar work. In addition to acoustic guitar, Geerinck also plays electric guitar, bass guitar, synths and electronic drums, which he places with precision in his music. The choice of instruments combinations makes you feel you walk along with him, through the day, starting at sunrise. The time when it’s quiet and the world is yours. A time for contemplation, which is beautifully interpreted in Break of Day. A wonderful acoustic guitar work supplemented with some overdubs. After this composition the day really comes to life and there are solid electronic drums with nice guitar solos (The Rundown) and even a fat saw-tooth synthesizer sound in Pace Up. And then a musing in The Promende followed by the driving Second Wind and The Long Jump (with really beautiful acoustic passages). The album ends with Dawn. Another fine contemplative composition, now in three beats, which slowly takes you through the night, where the new day soon presents itself. Visual and beautiful! Jeroen Geerinck played already in bands like Snaarmaarwaar, Spilar and Hot Griselda and therefore he’s no newcomer to the Flemish folk scene, but with Run High he really shows you the day in an innovative way. Splendid!
