Zelden een zo fantastisch drietal gehoord als het trio Wildes Holz (Wild Hout), bestaande uit gitaar, contrabas en blokfluit. Eigenzinnige samenstelling en repertoire, fantastisch uitgevoerd met een brede dosis humor. Op Höhen und Tiefen is de glimlach steeds dichtbij.

Het trio Wildes Holz ontstaat spontaan als drie musici van een muziekschool na afloop van een concertreis in Hongarije in een hotelkamer gaan jammen. Saxofonist Tobias Reisige stelt voor om te improviseren op de blokfluit en een aantal jazzstukken te spelen. Deze sessie werd een groot succes, legendarisch en duurt eigenlijk voort tot op de dag van vandaag. Djamel Laroussi speelt gitaar en percussie en Markus Conrads contrabas. Een voortreffelijke combinatie, zo blijkt. De muziek is virtuoos en met zorg uitgekozen, gearrangeerd en gespeeld. Het repertoire bestaat uit pop-klassiekers als Kiss van Prince, Like a Virgin (Madonna), Wanne be Starting Something (Michael Jackson), het voortreffelijk Take on me (Aha), Spain (Chick Corea) met o.a een verwijzing naar White Room van The Cream en het klassieke werk Canone van Gabrielli in een blokfluit/contrabas uitvoering. Maar Wildes Holz speelt ook bijzonder eigen werk zoals Brille van Reisige of Benny Goldsong (Laroussi). Tobias Reisige is een acrobaat op de blokfluit. Zo’n beetje een alleskunner die met gemak vele stijlen beheerst. Met soepel en virtuoos transparant spel laveert hij door een breed muzikaal landschap. Het klinkt zo vanzelfsprekend dat je bijna vergeet hoe moeilijk goed-blokfuit-spelen is. Dat geldt overigens ook voor de contrabas. Conrads zorgt naast strakke baslijnen ook voor een strakke ritmische ondersteuning, door zijn spel te verrijken met het slaan op de hals en klankast van het instrument. Gitarist Laroussi is de muzikaal-katalysator van Wildes Holz. Hij zorgt ervoor dat de lage bas- en de hoge blokfluittonen elkaar in het middenregister treffen, daar waar het gitaar-timbre zich bevindt. Hij zorgt voor de versmelting, het muzikale geheel. Hij tokkelt, speelt slag- en sologitaar en wisselt van jazz-, naar country en klassieke gitaar. Bovendien speelt Laroussi linkshandig, met de snaren als voor een rechtshandige gitaar gespannen. Hij speelt op z’n kop zogezegd. Wildes Holz is een zeer origineel trio dat in ongewone bezetting en met uitmuntend repertoire zorgt voor een verrassende muzikale sensatie!

Rarely heard a trio like the trio Wildes Holz (Rough Wood). Instrumentation guitar, double bass and recorder. Idiosyncratic repertoire which is fantastically performed with a wide dose of humor. When you listen to Höhen und Tiefen smiles are always close by.

Trio Wildes Holz arises spontaneously when three musicians from a music school were jamming in a hotel room after a concert trip in Hungary. Saxophonist Tobias Reisige suggests improvising on the recorder, playing a number of jazz pieces. This session was a great success, legendary and, in fact, it is still going on. Djamel Laroussi plays guitar and percussion and Markus Conrad double bass. This turns out to be an excellent combination. The music is carefully selected, arranged and virtuoso played. The repertoire consists of pop classics such as Kiss by Prince, Like a Virgin (Madonna), Wanne be Starting Something (Michael Jackson), the excellent Take on me (Aha), Spain (Chick Corea) with a reference to White Room by The Cream and the classical work Canone by Gabrielli in a recorder / double bass version. He provides the fusion, the musical combination. He strums, plays rhythm and solo guitar and switches from jazz, to country and classical guitar. In addition, Laroussi plays left-handed, with the strings stretched as right-handed guitar. Exciting! So he’s playing upside down, so to speak. Wildes Holz is a very original trio with an unusual line-up and excellent repertoire that provides a surprising musical sensation. Absolutely great and original music!
