Terugkeren naar haar geboortegrond is een innemende gebeurtenis geweest voor zangeres Sara Marini. Een inspiratie voor haar nieuwe album Torrendeadomo (Thuiskomst) op het Italiaanse eiland Sardinië.

Zangeres Sara Marini, die tegenwoordig in Umbrië woont, keert muzikaal terug naar haar geboorte-eiland Sardinië. Umbrië, (centraal Italië) wordt omringd door bergen. Dit staat in contrast met het eiland Sardinië dat de weidsheid van de zee kent. Een soort paradox die een (muzikale) metafoor is en daarmee het uitgangspunt vormt voor Torrendeadomo. Een album dat doordrenkt is met voortreffelijke melodische folk-avonturen. Sara Marini heeft een overtuigend stemgeluid. Ze zingt bevlogen, helder en krachtig. De liedjes zijn met veel zorg gearrangeerd met uitgekristalliseerd gebruik van snaarinstrumenten als gitaar, Cubaanse tres, bouzouki, piano en mandola. Maar ook horen we blaasinstrumenten als de fluit, kaval, zampogna (doedelzak) en dubbelfluit en diverse percussie waaronder cajon, udu, darbuka, bendir daf en rif. Het is wellicht een saaie opsomming van instrumenten maar dit geeft wel aan dat de muziek afwisselend en veelzijdig is. Een coherente muzikale variatie waarin de folk steeds centraal staat. Veel nieuw gecomponeerde stukken door o.a Claudio Fofi en Goffredo Degli Esposti en enkele door Sara Marini, met teksten over de natuur, keuzes maken en op reis gaan. Erg mooie stukken zijn Una rundine in sas aèras, Pitzinna deo en Bellezza perfetta. Het album wordt afgesloten met Pregadoria, een gebed waarin ze zingt over de engel die over je waakt en ervoor zorgt dat je de beste keuzes maakt. Bij Sara Marini is dat met Torrendeadomo in ieder geval gelukt. Dit zou zomaar eens de beste folk-CD van 2020 kunnen worden. Prachtig album!

Returning to your native soil has been an endearing experience for singer Sara Marini. An inspiration for her new album Torrendeadomo (Coming Home) on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Singer Sara Marini, who now lives in Umbria, returns musically to her native island of Sardinia. Umbria, (central Italy) is surrounded by mountains. This contrasts with the island of Sardinia, which has the vastness of the sea. A kind of paradox that is a (musical) metaphor which forms the starting point for Torrendeadomo. An album steeped in exquisite melodic folk adventures. Sara Marini has a convincing voice. She sings enthusiastically, clearly and powerfully. The songs are arranged with great care with the crystallized use of stringed instruments such as guitar, Cuban tres, bouzouki, piano and mandola. But we also hear wind instruments such as the flute, kaval, zampogna (bagpipe) and double flute and various percussion including cajon, udu, darbuka, bendir daf and reef. It may be a bit boring, this list of instruments, but it indicates that the music is varied and versatile. A coherent musical variation in which folk is always centre. Many newly composed pieces by, among others, Claudio Fofi and Goffredo Degli Esposti and some by Sara Marini, with lyrics about nature, making choices and going on a journey. Great songs are Una rundine in sas aèras, Pitzinna deo and Bellezza perfetta. The album closes with Pregadoria, a prayer in which she sings about the angel who watches over you and makes sure you make the best choices. Sara Marini did it by recording Torrendeadomo. This album could be the best folk CD of 2020. Splendid record!
