De Deense violiste Kristine Heebøll nam haar nieuwste album Pernambuk op met de Finse all-round pianist Timo Alakotila. Een prachtige duo-CD waarop viool en klavier elkaar eminent aanvullen in een scala van innoverende folk-improvisaties, aangevuld met twee tracks in samenwerking met Trio Vesselil.

De muziek op Pernambuk is organisch en heeft een prachtig natuurlijke flow. Violiste Kristine Heebøll (o.a. Trio Mio) schreef tien composities waarin ze dynamisch wordt bijgestaan door pianist Timo Alakotila. Folk georiënteerde stukken waarbij piano- en vioolklanken elkaar kleurrijk omcirkelen. Elkaar fantastisch aanvullen zowel melodisch als ritmisch. Hierdoor ontstaat een bijna volmaakte ontdekkingsreis (opdagelsesresje) die begint in Brazilië. De titel van dit album refereert namelijk aan Pernambuk (Pernambuco). Een hardhout uit dit Zuid-Amerikaanse land dat uiterst geschikt is voor de bouw van de strijkstok. Het stuk Pernambukpolska is opgedragen aan deze houtsoort en is een van hoogtepunten van deze CD. Op twee stukken wordt het duo Heebøll/Alakotila bijgestaan door Trio Vesselil. Dat gebeurt o.a. in het gedicht NU over de oude violist, voorgedragen en gezongen door Maja Aarøe Freese en voortreffelijk ondersteund door Heebøll/Alakotila en Trio Vesselil. Met Pernambuk wordt bewezen dat de folk uit Scandinavië voortdurend in ontwikkeling is waarbij het verleden zeker niet wordt vergeten en zelfs geëerd in het traditionele slotstuk Bryllupsmarcher Fra Himmerland (trouwmars uit Himmerland – noord-Denemarken). Een muzikale groet uit het verleden met een frisse ondernemende blik naar de toekomst.

Danish violinist Kristine Heebøll recorded her latest album Pernambuk with the Finnish all-round pianist Timo Alakotila. A beautiful duo-CD on which the violin and keyboard complement each other eminently in a range of innovative folk improvisations, supplemented with two tracks with Trio Vesselil.

The music on Pernambuk is organic and has a beautiful imaginary flow. Violinist Kristine Heebøll (Trio Mio) wrote ten compositions in which she is dynamically assisted by pianist Timo Alakotila. Folk oriented pieces in which piano and violin circle around each other in splendid musical colors. Complement each other fantastically both melodically and rhythmically. This creates an almost perfect voyage of discovery (sub-title of the CD opdagelsesresje) that starts in Brazil. The title of this album refers to Pernambuk (Pernambuco). A hardwood from this South American country that is ideal for the construction of the bow for the violin. The piece Pernambukpolska is dedicated to this type of wood and is one of the highlights. On two pieces the duo Heebøll / Alakotila is assisted by Trio Vesselil. This collaboration is to be heard in the poem NU about the old violinist, recited and sung by Maja Aarøe Freese and excellently supported by Heebøll / Alakotila and Trio Vesselil. With Pernambuk it is proven that Scandinavian folk is constantly evolving, without forgotten the past. Even honored in the traditional closing piece Bryllupsmarcher Fra Himmerland (wedding march from Himmerland – northern Denmark). A kind of musical greeting from the past with a fresh entrepreneurial view to the future.
