Six Days Loving is de titel van het nieuwste album van de Australische zangeres Zulya. Samen met de Nederlandse muzikant en producer Michiel Hollanders (die we al tegenkwamen bij de fantastische band Parna Gadje) zette ze gedichten van Yoldyz Minnullina op betoverende muziek.

Six Days Loving gaat over liefde. Een voortreffelijk thema van alle tijden voor poëzie en muziek. Verliefd worden is een uitermate inspirerende ervaring die je aan de ene kant onzeker en ingetogen maakt, maar aan de andere kant ook blij en ongebreideld. Hoe dan ook: verliefd worden zorgt voor inspirerende muziek. Dat blijkt ook op dit nieuwe album van Zulya. Een in Australië wonende singer songwriter van Tartaarse afkomst. De Tartaren is een bevolkingsgroep die leeft in het zuiden van Rusland. Het repertoire op Six Days Loving is verdeeld over 6 dagen: First Day, Second Day etc., aangevuld met drie tracks. Six Days Loving is absoluut geen doorsnee CD. Het meest opvallend zijn de heldere melodieën die zo fraai worden gezongen door Zulya. Deze worden op geheel eigen (excentrieke) wijze begeleid. Michiel Hollanders speelt banjobas, drums, piano en synthesizers maar ook gevonden percussie zoals hij het zelf noemt: digitale camera, vallende schroeven, ovenrek, saladekom en schuurpapier. Inventief worden deze rijke klanken in de muziek verwerkt, fantastisch om naar te luisteren. Ze zitten verstopt in de arrangementen en daardoor is de muziek vervuld met speelse klanken, terwijl de stem van Zulya er prachtig overheen zweeft. De poëzie van Yoldyz Minnullina is in het Russisch en voor de gemiddelde Westerling niet te verstaan. Maar wie gevoelig is voor de kracht van de liefde zal de inhoud van de tekst nauwelijks missen, aangezien men getrakteerd wordt op fantastische muziek.

Six Days Loving is the title of the latest album by Australian singer Zulya. She recorded the CD with the Dutch musician and producer Michiel Hollanders (who also played in the fantastic band Parna Gadje). The poems are written by the contemporary Tatar poet Yoldyz Minnullina.

As we can hear on this new Zulya album. A singer-songwriter who lives in Australia of Tartar origin. The Tartars is a population that lives scattered in southern Russia. The repertoire on Six Days Loving is spread over 6 days: First Day, Second Day etc., supplemented with three tracks. The music on Six Days Loving is definitely not average music. The most striking are the clear melodies that are sung so beautifully by Zulya. These are accompanied on an own unique (and eccentric) way by Michiel Hollanders. He plays banjo bass, drums, piano and synthesizers, but also lost percussion as he calls it: digital camera, falling screws, oven rack, salad bowl and sandpaper. These rich sounds are inventively incorporated into the music, fantastic to listen to. They are hidden in the arrangements like playful sounds, while the voice of Zulya floats beautifully over it. For most people from the west the Russian poetry of Yoldyz Minnullina is hard to understand. But for those who are sensitive for the power of love, they will hardly miss the content of the text, since they are treated to fantastic music.
