De Friese zangeres Nynke Laverman slaat met haar vijfde CD ‘Wachter’ alle Nederlandse records. Met energieke rust slaagt ze erin haar muziek te laten klinken als een fraaie symfonie waarin het ‘wachten’ centraal staat. Het ‘wachten‘ als een vorm van ‘innerlijk geduld‘ en ‘waakzaamheid‘ waarna je pas in actie komt op het juiste moment….!

Zangeres Nynke Laverman overtuigt met haar muziek. Of ze nu uitbundig zingt of klein en ingetogen, steeds raakt ze de kern van de melodie; geloofwaardig en eerlijk. Op haar laatste album ‘Wachter‘ wordt deze intensiteit nog eens versterkt door de ongelooflijk fraaie arrangementen van haar man Sytze Pruiksma die piano, marimba, dulcimer en drums speelt en het album met Nynke produceerde. Deze bewerkingen variëren van popnummers als ‘Jefte’ en ‘De Wachter‘ met stevige drumpartijen, naast surrealistisch werk als ‘Swannesang‘ of ‘Ald mei dy’ (Oud met jou) dat met de afwijkende bezetting van marimba en cello uitzonderlijk is. De cello, gespeeld door Geneviève Verhage, is een doeltreffende toevoeging. De lange lijnen refereren aan een strijkorkest en de prangende dissonanten zoals in ‘Katedralebouwer‘ en ‘Moarn‘ (Morgen) maken de muziek nog expressiever. Nynke Laverman schreef (bijna) alle stukken en zingt in het Fries, vertaald in het Engels in het prachtige CD-boekje. ‘Wachter‘ is een suggestief album gemaakt met grote muzikale fantasie, theatraal met serieuze aandacht voor details. Een voortreffelijke CD die tot ver over de Nederlandse grenzen hoorbaar moet zijn!

Singer Nynke Laverman comes from Frisland (a part in the north of the Netherlands). She recorded her fifth album ‘Wachter‘ sung in the Frisian language. She managed to make her music sound like a beautiful symphony in which the ‘waiting‘ is the central theme. ‘Waiting‘ as a form of ‘inner patience’ which show you the right time for action!

Nynke Laverman recorded impressive music. Whether she sings exuberantly or modest, she always touches to the heart of the melody. On her latest album ‘Wachter‘ this intensity is further enhanced by the incredibly beautiful arrangements of her husband Sytze Pruiksma who plays the piano, marimba, dulcimer and drums and produced the album together with Nynke. These arrangements range from pop songs like ‘Jefte’ and ‘De Wachter‘ with solid drumming, alongside surrealist songs like as ‘Swannesang‘ or ‘Ald mei dy’ (Old With You) with it’s exceptional instruments marimba and cello. The cello, played by Geneviève Verhage, is an effective addition which refer in one way to a string orchestra. In the other way the dissonances, as played in ‘Katedralebouwer‘ or ‘Moarn‘ (Tomorrow), make the music even more expressive. Nynke Laverman wrote (almost) all the songs and sung in the Frisian language, translated into English, to be found in the beautiful booklet. ‘Wachter‘ is a lovely album with great musical imagination, recorded with passion, with serious attention for details. An excellent CD which got to be heard far beyond the Dutch borders!
