Since 2007 speelt het kwintet Spark een combinatie van klassiek repertoire aangevuld met minimal, pop en avant-garde muziek. Een zeer innovatie mix met de avontuurlijke nuance van een kamermuziekensemble. Een kwintet dat excelleert in virtuositeit en schittert in zijn eenvoud waarbij stukken enthousiast en bevlogen worden gespeeld.

Eindelijk weer eens ensemble dat met grote klasse diverse (klassieke) stijlen moeiteloos met elkaar verbindt. Waar muzikale schakelingen zo vanzelfsprekend verlopen dat je wordt meegezogen in een organische flow. De muziek is filmisch, beeldend en heeft grote zeggingskracht die door de markante en uitgesproken uitvoering bijzonder goed tot zijn recht komt. Het Spark ensemble bestaat uit piano, viool, cello, blokfluit en melodica. Een wonderlijke verzameling instrumenten waardoor de groep kan mijmeren als een kwintet en uitpakken als een orkest. Zeker de blokfluit krijgt in deze ambiance een volledig nieuwe rol. Spark speelt werk van componisten uit eind 20ste eeuw waaronder Chiel Meijering, Kamran Ince en Johannes Motschmann, en twee bewerkingen van composities uit de Barok van Antonio Vivaldi en Philip Telemann. Meijering valt op met zijn dwingende (soms minimal achtige) ritmiek die fraai tegen de popmuziek aanleunt zoals ‘When the Cock…‘ met fonetische zang of ‘Cruiser‘ dat in volle vaart door de ruimte scheert. Het werk van Kamran Ince bevat Laat-Romantische kenmerken waar melodie een belangrijk component is die de stilte vult met prachtige thema’s uit ‘Songs in Other Words‘. Het album ‘Wild Territories‘ is afwisselend en boeiend en ontegenzeglijk een virtuoos en muzikaal vakwerk dat (klassieke) muziek in een volledig nieuwe context plaatst en deze onlosmakelijk met het heden verbindt!

Since 2007 the Spark quintet plays an excellent combination of classical music with minimal, pop and avant-garde. A very innovative mix with the adventurous nuance of a chamber music ensemble. This band excels in virtuosity and shines in its simplicity, played excited and enthusiastic.

Finally, here’s an ensemble that effortlessly connects several (classical) music styles. Where musical changes are so natural expired that they lead you into an organic flow. The music is cinematic, pictorial and has great expressiveness. The Spark ensemble includes piano, violin, cello, flute and melodica. A wonderful combination of instruments that makes the group sound like a quintet with the expression of a full orchestra. With the exciting new role for the recorder in a completely new atmosphere. Spark plays music written by composers from the late 20th century, including Chiel Meijering, Kamran Ince and Johannes Motschmann, and two arrangements of compositions from the Baroque period by Antonio Vivaldi and Philip Telemann. Meijering’s music is striking by its compelling (sometimes minimal like) rhythms which sounds beautifully, leaning against pop music like ‘When the cock…..‘ with phonetic singing or the piece ‘Cruiser’ that skims through space at full speed. The work of Kamran Ince contains Late-Romantic features in which melody is a major component. Wonderful melodic lines fill the silence from his magnificent ‘Songs in Other Words‘. The album ‘Wild Territories’ is varied and catchy and undeniably virtuoso musicianship in which (classical) music is put into a completely new context, connecting old traditions with the present.
