‘Dovresange’ is een verzamel-CD samengesteld door de Noorse zanger/gitarist Bjørn Sigurd Glorvigen. Een album vol (eeuwen)oude liedjes uit Dovre, een dunbevolkte streek in het zuiden van Noorwegen waar nog geen 3000 inwoners wonen. In trio-vorm worden deze liedjes vertaald naar de 21ste eeuw.

Het Etnisk Musikklubb label uit Noorwegen brengt al jaren prachtige overzichts-CD’s uit met lokale Noorse muziek. Specialistisch, met zorg en aandacht samengestelde collecties. Zo ook het prachtige ‘Dovresange’ waarvoor musicus, zanger en gitarist, Bjørn Sigurd Glorvigen jarenlang op zoek ging naar melodieën uit Dovre. Een dunbevolkte gemeente in Zuid Noorwegen waar hijzelf opgroeide. En zoals het zo vaak gaat, herken je pas de waarde van je geboortegrond als je er zelf niet meer woont. Veel liederen uit Dovre werden opgenomen en genoteerd door Tor Wigenstad en andere melodieën leerde Glorvigen van Ragnhild Slette, een bewoonster uit Dovre. Samen met violist Bjørn Kåre Odde en organist/pianist Ådne Svalastog nam hij zestien liedjes op die verloren dreigden te gaan met teksten over natuur, lokale personen en religie. Het resultaat is het fraaie ‘Dovresange’. Sober, soms iets te pragmatisch gearrangeerde muziek, enkele a capella gezongen of begeleid op een klein orgel of gitaar aangevuld met viool. De liefde voor de muziek is eenduidig, expliciet en maakt dit album niet alleen de moeite waard voor de bewoners uit Dovre maar voor iedereen die op zoek is naar ‘die andere muziek‘.

‘Dovresange’ is a wonderful collection. A CD compiled by the Norwegian singer / guitarist Bjørn Sigurd Glorvigen. An album full of (very) old songs from Dovre, a sparsely populated region in the south of Norway with about 3000 inhabitants. With a trio he translates these songs to the 21st century.

For years the Etnisk Musikklubb label from Norway released beautiful CDs from local Norwegian music. Specialistic music, compiled with care and attention. Likewise, the wonderful ‘Dovresange‘ by musician, singer and guitarist, Bjørn Sigurd Glorvigen who collected melodies from Dovre for years. A sparsely populated municipality in southern Norway where he grew up. But as so often, you recognize the value of your homeland: like ‘who you are’ and ‘where you’re going to‘. Many songs from Dovre were recorded and noted by Tor Wigenstad and other melodies learned Glorvigen by Ragnhild Slette, a resident of Dovre.
