Nadara speelt bruilofsmuziek uit Roemenië, uit Transsylvanië, aangevuld met Hongaarse (Olah zigeuners) en Bulgaarse invloeden. In maart 2013 nam de groep het album ‘Szászávás Serenade – Live’ op in Ottersum (Noord-Limburg) en deze werd begin dit jaar uitgebracht. Een dampende cd vol opzwepende feestmuziek met o.a. de zangeres/danseres Alexandra Deaujard die ook accordeon speelt.

Van origine wordt de muziek uit Transsylvanië gespeeld door een strijktrio: 1ste viool, 2de viool (de contra) en contrabas. In een aantal streken van Transsylvanië wordt daar het cimbaal aan toegevoegd. De 1ste viool speelt de melodie en improviseert, de 2de viool (met slechts 3 snaren en een platte kam) begeleidt veelal met gebroken akkoorden, terwijl de contrabas heen en weer plukt op tonica en kwint. Het Roma gezelschap Nadara voegt de saxofoon, gitaar, accordeon en percussie toe. De groep wordt opgericht in 2001 en bouwt een rijke traditie op tijdens de nachtenlange feesten en bruiloften. Bovendien verzorgen zij de soundtrack van Tony Gatlif’s film ‘Transylvania’.  Ook op deze live-cd schittert dit septet en wordt moeiteloos duidelijk met wat voor fantastische musici we hier te maken hebben. De instrumentale en vocale muziek is zeer stuwend en opzwepend. Langzame en snelle delen volgen elkaar organisch op en werken dans versterkend. Heerlijk pompende bas, improvisaties op viool en cimbaal, prachtige zang van bassist Florian Zimmerman en vooral van Alexandra Beaujard (die met een rauwe stem lekker langs de melodie schuurt) geven de muziek de juiste vitale inhoud en daarmee het gevoel dat je er zelf een beetje bij bent!

Nadara plays wedding music from Romania, Transylvania, added with Hungarian (Olah gipsies) and Bulgarian influences. In March 2013 the group recorded their album ‘Szászávás Serenade – Live’ at Ottersum (Southern Netherlands) which was released this year. A steaming record, full of exciting dance music with the great singer/dancer Alexandra Deaujard who plays accordion as well.

Originally the music from Transylvania is played by a string trio: 1st violin, 2nd violin (the contra) and the double bass. In a few parts from Transylvania the cimbalom is added. The 1st violin plays the melody and improvisations, the 2nd (with only 3 strings and a flat bow) accompanies with broken chords. The double bass plays pizzicato on the tonica and quint. The Roma group Nadara adds saxophone, guitar, accordion and percussion. The band was founded in 2001 and built a strong reputation after the night long parties and weddings. They also recorded the soundtrack for Tony Gatlif’s movie ‘Transylvania‘. On this live recording the septet shines in full glory and shows their musical craft. This instrumental and vocal music is very propulsive and stimulating. Slow and quick parts change organic. Lovely pumping bass, improvisations on violin and cimbalom, exciting singing of bass player Florian Zimmerman and, above all, Alexandra Beaujard, who got a fine rough edge in her voice. This music, with it’s vital meaning, gives you the feeling being at the concert as well.
