‘Oliver’s Cinema’ is het nieuwe trio van multi trompettist Eric Vloeimans samen met cellist Jörg Brinkman en de Belgische accordeonist Tuur Florizoone. Een prachtig theatrale symbiose waarin drie topmusici een muzikale combinatie van filmische beelden opzoeken.

Het trio Oliver’s Cinema speelt sprankelend, heldere muziek met een nostalgische dubbele lading. Melodieën en thema’s zijn veelal in mineur en worden langzaam en gedragen gespeeld op trompet, accordeon en cello. Opmerkelijk zijn de transparante arrangementen waarin deze drie instrumenten elkaar ingenieus aanvullen, omspelen en ondersteunen. Over de functionaliteit van elk instrument is goed nagedacht, waarbij de onderlinge verdeling van melodie, begeleiding of ritmiek soms zeer snel wisselt. Dat levert opwindende muziek op waar een hoop gebeurt: spannend, avontuurlijk en gevarieerd. Trompettist Eric Vloeimans soleert sierlijk en keert soepel terug bij de thema’s. Hij heeft een hees trompet geluid, met veel lucht, waardoor deze mooi mêleert, integer en kwetsbaar is en uitzonderlijk goed past bij deze beeldende muziek. Dat geldt ook voor het accordeonspel van Tuur Florizoone. Hij maakt fraai gebruik van dynamiek en speelt regelmatig alleen met zijn rechterhand (zonder de bassende linkerhand), waardoor de cello muzikaal meer ruimte krijgt en naast de thema’s ook bas partijen kan spelen. Bijna alle stukken zijn door het trio geschreven en geven een prachtige kijk in Oliver’s Cinema: een breedbeeld opname in 3D kwaliteit!

‘Oliver’s Cinema’ is the new trio of the Dutch trumpet player Eric Vloeimans, together with cellist Jörg Brinkman and the Belgium accordionist Tuur Florizoone. A beautiful theatrical symbiosis in which three top musicians play a musical combination of cinematic pictures.

The trio Oliver’s Cinema plays sparkling, fresh music with a nostalgic bottom line. Melodies and theme’s are mostly in minor and played slowly and a little solemn by trumpet, accordion and cello. Remarkable are the transparent arrangements in which these three instruments fill each other so ingenious, vary and support. They’ve been thinking deeply about the functionality of each instrument, the melody division, accompanies and rhythm with quick changes. The result is thrilling music with a lot in mind: it’s exciting, adventurous and varied. Eric Vloeimans plays graceful and returns easily back to the theme’s. His trumpet sounds a little hoarse, with some air. This combines beautiful in the storytelling music, sincere and vulnerable. The same we’ll find in the accordion of Tuur Florizoone. He uses lovely dynamics and plays regular only his right hand (without his left bass hand), so the cello got more musical space and can play, besides the melody, the baselines. Almost all the pieces are composed by this trio. They give a wonderful view in Oliver’s Cinema: a widescreen recording in 3D quality!
